Transforming Asnaf into Entrepreneur

MKitchen introduces 4-stage model of transforming asnaf to entrepreneurs

  1. Awareness
  2. Education
  3. Reinforcement
  4. Enforcement

Awareness about transforming from asnaf to asnaf entrepreneurs.

Dr Ghazali has conducted a series of awareness talk to all asnaf in the Masjid Al-Syakirin vicinity. There are more than 300 asnaf in the vicinity. The asnaf has been grouped according to the socio-spiritual profile and led by a naqib or leader among the most trusted among them. Often the asnaf elected those with Islamic education or those who are working with the masjid as muazzin or siak (care taker).

There are a few categories of asnaf (although most of them under the needy and poor categories) according to socio-spiritual.

  1. Previously with employment but laid off during pandemic and regular attendees to the masjid.
  2. Poor due to insufficient income to feed the family and regular attendees to the masjid.
  3. Poor due to insufficient income to feed family but not regular attendees to the masjid.
  4. Needy and regular attendees to the masjid.
  5. Needy but not regular attendees to the masjid.
  6. Newly converted to Islam but have been friendly to the masjid.
  7. Newly converted to Islam but just migrated to the masjid area.

The purpose of the categorisation is to match them with the appropriate leaders and to monitor their socio-spiritual development. Academy of Al-Syakirin is the secretariat for this project.

Education on entrepreneurship

All the committed asnaf have voluntarily registered for a few courses conducted by the organisers namely, food handling, financial literacy, kitchen inventory, cooking, packing, delivery, book keeping and digital marketing.
